1984 KAWASAKI TECATE KXT250 XLNT RUNNING CONDITION OTHER 3 WHEELERS FOR SALE I also have an 1985 Tecate, I listed on ebay yesterday. I was a local Southern California Pro Motocross racer in the mid and late 70's. In the early 80's I got a job as a project engineer in the R & D department at Kawasaki Motors International where I did test riding, engineering, fabrication, and overall development of off road bikes, and atv's. I did virtually every second of the development testing of the 84, 85, and 86 Tecate's during this time. I also raced in the Pro class with the 84 pre-production Tecate that we used for testing which I modified with just a Harry Klemm port job, pipe, and plain old fifty dollar 36mm Mikuni carburetor, and I holeshot and won several races with it, including the last short track race at Saddleback Park, where I beat Jimmy White (who was the reigning champion at the time) and the factory honda riders with their bazillion dollar works trikes etc, so I know these trikes better than most anyone. I bought this from the original owner over 2 years ago and have ridden it a few times but am no longer able to. It starts, runs, and shifts just like it did when it was brand new. VIDEO OF IT RUNNING I hope to have a video of it running posted here soon but have been too busy with work to take one. PERFORMANCE In, a word, it is FAST. A stock Tecate will beat a stock 85/86 honda atc250r in every performance category guaranteed. I know this for a fact because we (Kawasaki Motors) bought a brand new 85 honda 250r to compare to the Tecate, and I and a few other test riders rode them both several times in various conditions, and also did drag race testing with both. And the fact that it does beat the 250r, really pisses the honda "ladies" off to no end, and they then start coming up with lame excuses as to why they got smoked by "The TECATE...The Worlds Most Powerful 3 Wheeler.". It's absolutely hilarious. A mildly modified Tecate that just has an after silencer, mild porting, and a bigger carburetor, will smoke many heavily modified 250r's. In short, it will cost way more to make a honda nearly as fast as a Tecate and handle nearly as well over rough terrain.
